Getting started on a new blog!

Posted by allandelaplante on April 19, 2015 at 2:00 AM

Well I thought is was about time I had a conversation with you.  There are many who get in touch through various methods and often the question is "How do I become a photographer?" I suspect there are thousand answers to this question, but I can only tell my story.  Over a period of time I will connect the dots of my life in an entry called 'Shutter Speed'.  I will also post entries following the adventures of my wife Angela and I as we wander around Europe on assignment this summer.

Allan, you probably know more about Europe than I do! I do realise it?s probably been a while since you?ve been there. I know you know Monaco and the French Riviera like the back of your hand, but I can suggest a few of the restaurants outside of Rascasse along the Pier if you want to save some money as it is pretty expensive in most places. Stars ?N Bars is quite good, as is Brasserie de Monaco which is actually nearer the swimming pool. The Prince of Monaco?s car collection is actually quite impressive as well. Outside of there, if you have time, go through Luxembourg. Very friendly, English and French is fluently spoken, and like Monaco, is very clean. Alcohol and fuel is probably the cheapest in Europe too. Of course from here, it would be a sin not to mention going to Trier and the Nurburgring as they are about an hour away. Dad can fill you in on Trier as he lived there, but it?s the oldest city in Germany (Roman). I will be in Belgium in the next two weeks, and I know there?s likely many things I can recommend without going to Zolder. Bruges, Ghent, visiting a trappist brewery/abbey and any of the wartime sites in the north. When in the UK, I don?t know how much time you?ll have outside of the Revival, but you won?t be too far from the Brooklands Museum in Guildford which is quite good (and on my list). A lot of these will depend on timings. Can?t wait to read about your adventures!

Please respond, we are pretty sure you are a relative. Saw your picture on Facebook and you look exactly like one of the DeLaplante brothers. Robert, Richard, Daniel, Gary and sister Susan. Mother was Nancy. Please email back.
Thanks for your interest,
